{making an} effort

Its funny how you can be hurt so bad by the person you least expect it from. Seriously. It's a totally different kind of hurt. It comes out of nowhere and smacks you, hard. And I know I'm not the only one who has gone through this. So, here's a little advice I have for you::

"If someone wants to be in your life, they will work to be a part of it. So don't bother saving a spot for someone who won't make an effort to stay."

I'm thinking & praying for you, girl. The heart does heal. I promise.

{fall} bliss list

It's time again!

I know what you all think of when autumn comes around {the typical} :: no more bugs or humidity. your favorite shows coming on. leaves changing. a chill in the air. football. going back to school. But when I think of fall I see things a little differently...

{my} fall bliss list::

1. ombre/gradient nails. ok, this is really more of a new fall trend. but it is really fun! different shades of one color on each nail. I've already tried it once with brown shades.

2. motorcycle boots. or just boots. the more buckles and rugged-looking the better.

3. beanies. the only time I wear hats is if it's a beanie. I can't really pull off the baseball cap.

4. school supplies. I know I don't go to school anymore, but I still love to browse through it!

5. apple cider and musicals. some of my best memories of fall were wrapped around this alone.

6. birthdays. It's a great time of year to have a birthday! Especially mine!

7. fall sports. I LOVED going to high school/college football and soccer games. I still have fun going to them!

8. bonfires. camping season may be over. but bonfires can go on well into winter time.

9. pumpkin spice scent. reminds me of thanksgiving at my house. which I'm going to miss this year. :(

10. concerts. I've already had quite the concert attendance this year, but I am very much looking forward to topping it all off with some Carrie Underwood. yippee!

let's put it simply. fall, you are my favorite. don't tell the others.

{not so} secret

PostSecret is one of my favorite websites to check up on randomly. Well, I got to the end of the most recent Sunday Secrets and found this::

{from a live journal in response to the post}::

"As a doctor I want to say "thank you" to you and all the other nurses. . . Doctors often get the credit for successes in treating patients but nurses are the ones most patients will remember for their care."

I had one of my favorite patients die last week after a long fight with her leukemia. I couldn't even take a nap today without waking up every 30 minutes thinking about her.

This postcard had the memories come flooding back.

take away {the pain}

Ronnie:: "Why did you want me to see this?"

Will:: "Because I thought you would like her as much as I do, scars and all."

{you are} the best thing

Who needs a better reminder of how un-perfect we are? Taylor Swift may just touch on the reality of relationships and their hardships, but to me she speaks the truth.

Girls may think that a "Prince Charming" is still out there, and yes, maybe the right guy will seem like that. But girls, you've got to stop building up this idea in your heads that he's going to be perfect in every way. People make mistakes and have rotten pasts. But that's what got them where they are. That's what forgiveness is for. You live, you learn.

I could not applaud Taylor more for her honesty. Nobody's perfect. And that's where love steps in.

{ultimate} sacrifice

My boyfriend told me the most interesting story yesterday. He had asked a boy, who happens to drop the "L" bomb quite a bit, if he loved this certain girl enough to die for her.

That had me thinking about how love sacrifices. But then it hit me hard this morning as I got on Yahoo and watched this {be warned, you will cry more than likely}::

Love still exists. The self-less and self-sacrificing kind of love.

{beautifully} spoken

"Everybody says love hurts, but thats not true.

Loneliness hurts, rejection hurts, losing someone hurts, envy hurts.

Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality, love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain & makes someone feel wonderful again.

Love is the only thing in this world, that does not hurt."

Think about it.

{will i ever} breathe again?

"...bags are packed, but what kind of heart doesn't look back?"

it's so sad. we can deny it. try to hide it.
but the truth still remains.

so, can someone please tell me why the hole in my heart just won't let go?

{piece of} cake

when i was younger, typically birthday parties revolved around balloons and ballerinas. pet shops and anything pink.

last year, i got a kitten for my birthday.

this year, i got a vacuum cleaner.

a sure sign that as i get older, birthday presents get a little more durable and convenient.

so, here's to being twenty-four,

happier {note}

I just realized how unbalanced my blog seems nowadays with all the hurt and disappointment written all over this page {literally}. Although I'm not really one for pretending, let's turn this around {momentarily speaking}.

I'm starting to get {slowly} back into books. But not the ones you would typically think, as my reads primarily consist of Sarah Dessen. I can't help myself.

But thanks to Urban Outfitters and Modcloth, I have found quite possibly the most entertaining books ever! :) I do have a list of ones I want {big surprise there}. And I did already purchase these {as inspired by the words of a fellow blogger}::

{the one at the bottom here is one that I still want... and many more of course}. I hope you get the chance to check them out!

love you all to pieces,

i wish i could {float}

when i close my eyes. i see something different. even just for a second.

at night, i pray out loud. as soon as my head hits the pillow. even if it's not the change i want...

i still hope.
